"Heidelberger Frühling" - International Music Festival
The Heidelberger Frühling (Heidelberg Spring Music Festival) plays "in the first league of festivals for classical music" (magazine DIE ZEIT) and presents in over 100 events major soloists, ensembles and orchestras, as well as innovative productions and genre crossings. Piano aficionados can listen to András Schiff, Grigory Sokolov, Rudolf Buchbinder and Igor Levit, among others. Not only is Levit soloist with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, but also director of the Chamber Music Academy and will appear at the chamber music weekend Standpunkte. Other guests include Anna Prohaska, Jean-Guihen Queyras and Sol Gabetta as well as Jörg Widmann with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. In the city which is the cradle of the world-famous song collection Des Knaben Wunderhorn, particular attention is paid to the genre of the art song: In addition to Thomas Hampson's Lied Academy there is Neuland.Lied a four-day song festival with world stars and young hopefuls, that also acts as an open space for fresh ideas. An expedition for the curious.
